Lucknow, January 18, 2026:
An IndiGo Airlines flight en route from Delhi to Bagdogra made an emergency landing at Lucknow airport on Sunday after a bomb threat was reported onboard, officials said.
The threat was conveyed through a handwritten message found on a tissue paper inside the aircraft’s toilet, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajneesh Verma.
“A message was found written on a tissue paper stating that there was a bomb on board. The flight was travelling from Delhi to Bagdogra and made an emergency landing in Lucknow. It is currently being searched,” Verma told ANI.
Passengers Evacuated, Aircraft Isolated
Air traffic control received information about the threat at 8:46 am, following which the aircraft landed safely at 9:17 am. After landing, the plane was moved to an isolation bay at Lucknow airport.
Bomb disposal squads and CISF personnel cordoned off the aircraft and began a thorough security check. All passengers were safely evacuated.
The flight was carrying 230 passengers—222 adults and eight infants—along with two pilots and five crew members, officials confirmed.
Authorities said the situation is under close watch and verification of details is ongoing.
Recent Similar Incident
In a separate incident last Christmas, a bomb threat email was received at the customer support address of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad, related to Flynas flight XY 325. That aircraft also landed safely, and standard security procedures were followed.
