BREAKING: Adebayo Adedamola Wins Osun PDP Governorship Primary

Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola, popularly known as FRYO, has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the August 8, 2026 Osun State governorship election.

The primary, held on Tuesday in Osogbo, was conducted under heavy security presence. Announcing the results, Humphrey Abba, chairman of the primary election committee, said Adedamola secured 919 out of 957 accredited votes, claiming a decisive victory.

Abba noted that there were 20 void votes, following the withdrawal of one of the candidates, widely believed to be Governor Ademola Adeleke. “The candidate that got the remaining votes is Adebayo Adedamola with 919 votes, and he stands elected and returned,” Abba added.

Despite Adeleke’s resignation from the PDP, which he communicated in a letter dated November 4, 2025, his name still appeared on the ballot. Party officials confirmed that the primary followed established guidelines and involved voting by accredited delegates.

Earlier, Osun PDP chairman Sunday Bisi had announced a postponement of the primary due to a leadership crisis at the national level, but a faction of the party proceeded with the election in Osogbo.
