The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stepped into the ongoing leadership crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), summoning the party’s two rival factions for a reconciliation meeting at its headquarters in Abuja.
The meeting, which is currently in progress, involves the faction led by Tanimu Turaki and the group backed by former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, under the leadership of Abdulrahman Mohammed.
Members of Turaki’s delegation include officials of his National Working Committee (NWC), party secretariat staff, and former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu.
On his part, Mohammed arrived with members of his national caretaker committee, including the committee’s secretary, Senator Sam Anyanwu.
The INEC meeting is aimed at resolving internal disputes that have affected the party’s administration and operations ahead of key political activities.
