An inspector of police attached to the B-Division Police Station in Akure, Ondo State, has reportedly been stabbed to death by men alleged to have links to local cult groups.
The officer, recently transferred from the Anti-Cultism Unit to B-Division, was killed at Oke Arata, near Arakale in the state capital. Eyewitnesses identified the suspects as Oladapo Oluwaseun, also known as “Choko Milo,” a member of the Eiye Confraternity, alongside Shina and Y2K, reportedly affiliated with the Aye Confraternity. The trio allegedly attacked the officer during a disturbance in the area.
Notably, Oladapo Oluwaseun is a government appointee and reportedly a loyalist of Ondo State Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
SaharaReporters also learned that Choko Milo was among those accused of attacking pro-democracy protesters, including human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, during the June 12, 2025 demonstrations in Akure. Sowore had accused the Ondo State Police Command of collaborating with thugs to suppress peaceful protests against bad governance and economic hardship.
In September 2025, the Ondo State Government appointed a group of individuals, including those accused of assaulting protesters during the June 12 demonstrations, as coordinators of commercial tricycle (Keke) riders in Akure South Local Government Area. A government appointment letter dated September 15, 2025, signed by Comrade Bola Taiwo, Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties, confirmed the appointments of Robert Tolulope, Oladapo Oluwaseun (Choko Milo), Gbenga Aluko, John Oluwatimilehin (Gaga), and Faleye Oluwadamilare (Aperi).
The appointees were instructed to report weekly to the Office of the Special Adviser, Special Duties, on the progress and challenges faced by tricycle riders under their supervision.
The incident has raised concerns about the intersection of government appointments and alleged cult-linked violence in Ondo State.
