Buba Galadima Calls for Recolonisation, Says Britain Should “Return and Sanitise Nigeria”

Northern political figure and NNPP chieftain Buba Galadima has sparked controversy by suggesting that Nigeria has deteriorated so severely that Britain might need to recolonise the country to restore order, enforce the rule of law, and combat corruption.

In an interview with AIT, Galadima criticised the Nigerian government for failures in security, agriculture, governance, and democratic accountability. He warned of worsening insecurity, including threats to Abuja, and accused authorities of allowing bandits to operate with impunity.

Galadima also condemned vote-buying, arguing that citizens must take responsibility for electing poor leaders, even if poverty makes selling votes tempting. He highlighted the destruction of local agriculture due to border policies favoring importers.

While acknowledging the controversial position of figures like Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, Galadima stressed that Nigeria needs radical solutions, including foreign intervention or mercenaries, if the government cannot regain control. He defended his stance as patriotic rather than provocative, prioritizing peace and survival over national pride.
