
The Catholic Diocese of Zaria in Kaduna State has confirmed the abduction of Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ezema from his residence at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Rumi. The incident occurred late Tuesday night, sparking concern among parishioners and the wider community.
In a statement released Wednesday and signed by the Diocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Isek Augustine, the Diocese expressed deep regret over the incident and underscored its seriousness.
“We regret to officially announce the abduction of our Priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ezema, from his residence at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Rumi, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, around 11:30 pm,” the Diocese stated.
The Church outlined immediate measures being taken and appealed to the public for support in securing the priest’s safe return.
“We call on all men and women of goodwill to pray for the safe and quick release of our Priest and others in captivity. Through the intercession of Our Lady, the Mother of all Priests, may our brother and others return to us safe and sound,” the statement added.
While details about the abductors remain scarce, the Diocese emphasized the importance of collective prayer and support for Rev. Fr. Ezema’s safety. The Catholic Diocese of Zaria urged the faithful to continue praying for his release, highlighting reliance on faith in navigating such crises.
