The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) in Jigawa State has reminded public officers and political office holders who have completed their asset declaration forms to submit the documents in person to avoid sanctions.
The reminder, contained in a statement signed by Jigawa State CCB Director Sani Ibrahim Bayero, emphasized that submissions must be made at the Bureau’s office in the Federal Government Secretariat, Dutse.
According to the statement, this directive aligns with the Bureau’s statutory responsibilities under Paragraph 3 of the Third Schedule to the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). Submission of assets declaration forms to any office outside the Code of Conduct Bureau constitutes a breach of the Constitution.
The Bureau stressed that personal submission of the forms ensures transparency, accountability, and proper documentation of declared assets. Public officers who fail to comply risk facing unnecessary sanctions.
The statement also reiterated the CCB’s commitment to upholding integrity in the public service and called on political office holders to support efforts that promote good governance and adherence to constitutional provisions.
