In a development that highlights the deepening relationship between Africa and the Caribbean, a high-powered delegation from Saint Lucia paid an official visit to Chocolate City Group in Lagos, Nigeria, to explore opportunities for collaboration across the creative industries.
The visit, part of Saint Lucia’s broader cultural diplomacy and creative economy drive, focused on building sustainable partnerships in music, film, fashion, and digital media.
Executives of Chocolate City — one of Africa’s leading entertainment companies — received the delegation, led by representatives from Saint Lucia’s Ministry of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information. Discussions centred on knowledge exchange, artist collaborations, talent development, and the creation of joint platforms to promote Afro-Caribbean creativity on the global stage.
Speaking during the visit, a Chocolate City spokesperson reaffirmed the company’s commitment to fostering cross-continental partnerships that empower artists and strengthen cultural economies.
“This engagement marks an important step in uniting two vibrant creative communities that share deep historical and cultural connections. Together, we can tell stories that resonate across both regions and amplify African and Caribbean voices worldwide,” the spokesperson said.
The Saint Lucian delegation expressed enthusiasm about working with Nigerian creatives, noting that both regions have the potential to lead a new global wave of Black cultural expression and creative entrepreneurship.
The courtesy visit comes as part of a broader movement to connect Africa’s entertainment industry with the Caribbean, paving the way for collaborations that celebrate shared heritage and promote creative exports from both regions.
