Chris Evans Becomes a Dad as He and Wife Alba Baptista Welcome Their First Child
Chris Evans is officially a father! The Captain America actor and his wife, Portuguese actress Alba Baptista, have welcomed their first baby together, PEOPLE confirms.
According to multiple reports, the couple’s baby arrived on Friday, October 24, in Massachusetts, marking the first child for both Evans, 44, and Baptista, 28. TMZ was the first to break the news.
The arrival of their newborn comes just over two years after the couple began dating privately and a little more than a year after they tied the knot.
From Private Romance to Parenthood
Evans and Baptista were first linked in January 2022, but they kept their relationship largely out of the spotlight. By November 2022, a source told PEOPLE that the two had already been dating for “over a year.”
In September 2023, the couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony at a Cape Cod estate surrounded by close friends and family. Guests reportedly included several of Evans’ Avengers costars.
Evans, named PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2022, has often spoken about his dream of becoming a husband and father.
“That’s absolutely something I want: wife, kids, building a family,” he told PEOPLE at the time. “It’s about the relationships, the families you create, and the love you share.”
“He Knew She Was the One”
Sources close to the couple say that Evans “got serious very quickly” after meeting Baptista while she was working in Europe. “He kept saying he knew she was the one,” a friend told PEOPLE.
“He has been ready to settle down for a while,” another insider added. “He can’t wait to have a family. He was just waiting for the right girl.”
That wish has now come true.
Evans on Becoming a “Superhero Dad”
In a November 2024 interview with Access Hollywood at the premiere of his holiday action-comedy Red One, Evans reflected on the idea of fatherhood and whether he’d follow in the footsteps of his co-star Dwayne Johnson’s on-screen character.
When asked if he thought he’d make a “superhero dad,” Evans smiled:
“Yeah, I hope so. Absolutely. The title of dad is an exciting one.”
Now, it seems that title suits him perfectly.
Who Is Alba Baptista?
Alba Baptista, best known for her starring role in Netflix’s Warrior Nun, has also appeared in several Portuguese films and international projects. Known for her charm and privacy, Baptista has rarely discussed her relationship with Evans publicly, though the two have shared occasional glimpses of their life together on social media.
