Chris Redd Reveals Selling Pills to SNL Castmates Amid Personal Struggles

Chris Redd, the comedian and former Saturday Night Live (SNL) cast member, opened up about a turbulent period during his time on the iconic sketch show, revealing that he was selling pills to his fellow castmates while struggling with his own substance issues.

Redd, 40, made the revelation in a candid Instagram video on January 6, 2026, as he promoted his upcoming comedy show at Caveat in New York City, which premieres on January 28.

Chris Redd’s Time on SNL

Redd was a cast member on SNL from 2017 to 2022, joining ahead of Season 43 and leaving prior to Season 48. During his tenure, he became known for his versatile impressions and bold comedy sketches.

Reflecting on his experience, Redd admitted that he “had some pill problems” during those years.

“Nothing too crazy, but crazy for my Black a–,” he confessed, acknowledging the challenges he faced behind the scenes.

Selling Pills to Castmates

Amid his personal struggles, Redd admitted that he was selling pills to some of his SNL castmates, but he reassured them he would never reveal who they were.

“I’m not gonna snitch on y’all m————,” he said, emphasizing his desire to protect those involved while being transparent about his own mistakes.

Redd also described the environment at SNL, highlighting how it contributed to his difficulties:

“It was really funny to me that I would be around, on this s—, and people would talk s— about me, and I would hear them, because, you know, some of that adderall s— got you f—— super-hearing. But [they] wouldn’t help me… I would have panic attacks, [they] wouldn’t be concerned about me or nothing. Just would talk s—. It’s crazy how somebody would watch you destroy yourself.”

Christina Evangeline: Support Amid Struggles

During this challenging period, Redd credited Christina Evangeline, the ex-wife of fellow cast member Kenan Thompson, for helping him navigate his therapy journey.

“This lady was the only one to call me on my s—, to help me with my s—,” Redd explained. He added that their connection allowed him to see his environment and relationships differently, which eventually led to a romantic relationship.

Redd described the situation as complicated, noting that he and Thompson had agreed to keep the relationship private, but the news became public, bringing additional scrutiny.

Moving Forward with Comedy

Redd emphasized that while he is open about his past struggles, his upcoming show at Caveat will focus on love and personal growth, not just his past mistakes.

“The whole show is not gonna be about this,” he said. “The whole show is gonna be about love.”

This new chapter reflects Redd’s commitment to vulnerability, openness, and moving forward in both his personal life and career.
