The Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Nigeria and Overseas has expressed deep sorrow over the recent terrorist attack on its congregation in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area, Kwara State. The incident claimed the lives of three church members, while the resident pastor and several others were abducted.
In a statement, the church extended condolences to the families of the deceased, praying for comfort and strength, and urged for the safe release of the abducted members.
The CAC condemned the attack as inhuman, devilish, and an affront to the collective humanity of Nigerians. It also criticized the government’s failure to adequately protect citizens, highlighting the growing threats to Christian communities across the country.
The church expressed disappointment with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for what it described as “deafening silence” on the recurring attacks against Christians, calling on the body to reclaim its mandate to protect and represent the Christian community.
CAC further urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare a national state of emergency on terrorism and implement strategic measures to curb insecurity, stressing that terrorism affects all law-abiding Nigerians, regardless of religion.
Calling for interfaith cooperation, the church invited the Muslim community to join in condemning and confronting terrorism. CAC also appealed to its members globally to unite in prayer, vigilance, and security awareness, emphasizing the need for effectual intercession for Nigeria, as guided in 2 Chronicles 7:14.
The statement concluded with a prayer: “May God expose the sponsors and perpetrators of evil, and bring a new dawn of unity, peace, and righteousness to Nigeria.”
