Public commentator Prince Isaac Fayose has dismissed claims of an alleged Christian massacre in Nigeria, challenging recent assertions by US President Donald Trump, who designated the country as a “Country of Particular Concern” over supposed genocide against Christians.
Trump had also threatened potential US military action if the Nigerian government failed to stop the alleged killings.
Fayose, in a video on his official Facebook page, described the genocide claims as false, noting that the violence in the country, particularly in the South Eastern region, is largely Christians killing fellow Christians.
“There is no Christian genocide in this country. Security challenges affect all of us. Christians and Muslims live together peacefully, we eat, drink, and celebrate together,” Fayose said.
He added, “If you are shouting genocide, what about the sit-at-home in the South East? There are a lot of killings there. Muslim and Christian alike need protection. President Bola Tinubu is a leader who would never allow genocide; this is about life, not religion.”
Fayose also criticized Trump’s approach, saying, “If you truly care, help our government do better. But claiming Christians are being killed en masse is a lie.”
