Jaipur, November 1, 2025: In a tragic incident early on Saturday morning, a 12-year-old Class 6 student died after allegedly falling from the fourth floor of a private school building in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall, with officials stating that it is not yet clear whether the incident was accidental or intentional.
Mansarovar Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Aditya Kakade said that initial reports and CCTV footage indicate that the student may have climbed onto the railing of the fourth-floor balcony before falling. “We are yet not sure whether it’s death by suicide. We suspect that she had somehow slipped from a floor, causing the accident. A copy of the CCTV footage showed the student climbing on the railing of the fourth-floor balcony and jumping down,” he said.
Police officers reported that no one witnessed the fall. The school staff reportedly rushed to the ground floor after hearing a scream and found the girl in critical condition. She had sustained severe injuries, including a fractured skull and broken ribs, which also caused damage to other internal organs. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. The body has been sent for autopsy, and the parents were informed promptly.
In response to the incident, Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar described it as “extremely disheartening” and stated that an investigation had been ordered. “I have directed the district education officer to conduct an investigation, find out the lapses that caused the accident, and send a report. We will take necessary action accordingly,” he said in an official statement.
A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has examined the site, and police are analyzing CCTV footage and interviewing school authorities to piece together the sequence of events. As of now, no formal case has been registered. The school administration has not provided a public statement regarding the incident.
The incident has raised concerns about safety measures in private schools, particularly regarding high-rise buildings and the adequacy of railings, security protocols, and supervision of young students. Parents and educationists have emphasized the need for strict adherence to safety standards to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
This incident adds to a growing list of accidents and safety concerns in educational institutions across India, underscoring the need for rigorous monitoring and preventive measures to ensure the well-being of students. Authorities have assured that they will take necessary action based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
