
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has instructed troops of the 6 Division to perform their duties professionally, safeguard critical national infrastructure, and ensure enhanced oil production in the Niger Delta Region through sustained security operations.
The directive was given during his first operational visit to the 6 Division Headquarters at Port Harcourt Barracks, Rivers State. Speaking to officers and soldiers, the COAS emphasized the importance of discipline, commitment, and dedication in fulfilling the Division’s mandate.
According to the Nigerian Army’s spokesperson, Colonel Apollonia Anele, General Shaibu reassured troops that their welfare remains a top priority. Since assuming command, he has visited multiple formations and units to assess operational readiness, understand challenges firsthand, and implement measures to improve conditions for personnel and their families.
Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 6 Division, briefed the COAS on ongoing operations in the Niger Delta and led him on a tour of projects within the barracks, affirming the Division’s commitment to achieving the COAS’ strategic objectives.
