CORBON Strengthens Code of Conduct for Registered Builders

The Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) has announced that it has strengthened its code of conduct for registered builders over the past three years, enhancing accountability and moral responsibility in the construction sector.

Speaking at the 6th Convocation Lecture at Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State, with the theme “Faith, Innovation, and Sustainability: Building a Resilient Future for Nigeria,” CORBON Chairman Dr. Samson Opaluwah emphasized the council’s commitment to promoting inclusive development, ensuring construction practices align with community values and social equity.

Dr. Opaluwah highlighted CORBON’s collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) through a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing professional standards and promoting sustainable construction practices via global knowledge exchange.

He further noted that partnerships with organisations such as GIZ have enabled CORBON to support vocational training in eco-friendly construction methods, successfully training over 50,000 artisans in various building trades.

To improve registration, verification, and compliance monitoring, the council has also launched digital platforms such as the Builder’s Management Portal (BuMaP) and iReg, streamlining operations for registered builders nationwide.

“CORBON’s recent initiatives demonstrate a holistic approach to nation-building, anchored in faith, driven by innovation, and committed to sustainability. As Nigeria navigates the challenges of the 21st century, CORBON’s leadership in shaping a resilient built environment remains indispensable,” Dr. Opaluwah said.

Prof. Haruna Ayuba, Vice-Chancellor of Bingham University, added that convocation lectures are intended to instil purpose, inspire, and motivate graduates, urging them to make positive contributions to society as they embark on new phases of life.
