An Ogun State High Court in Ijebu-Ode has dismissed Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM1’s, request to stop the selection and installation of the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
The court, presided over by Justice A. A. Omoniyi, ruled on Monday that Ayinde’s ex parte application lacked merit and did not provide sufficient grounds for an interim injunction.
However, the judge ordered an accelerated hearing of the substantive suit, scheduling further proceedings for January 14, 2026.
Ayinde, represented by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Wahab Shittu, had sought to restrain Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and five others from proceeding with the installation process, claiming lineage from the Jadiara Royal House of the wider Fusengbuwa Ruling House. His claim, however, was rejected by the Fusengbuwa ruling house, which stated that he is not entitled to the throne.
The suit names as respondents the Fusengbuwa ruling house, Governor Abiodun, Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government Dare Alebiosu, Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Ganiyu Hamzat, Secretary of Ijebu-Ode Local Government Oke Adebanjo, and the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, Dr. Olorogun Sunny Kuku.
Justice Omoniyi emphasized that the legal threshold for an interim injunction was not met, declining Ayinde’s request to halt the ongoing selection and installation process.
