Justice Rita Offili Ajumogobia has ordered that lawyer Ahmed Abdulrahman and four co-defendants be remanded at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Area 10 Abuja until November 10. They face charges of cyberbullying, advance fee fraud, and extortion against Senator Shehu Baba Umar, Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence.
The defendants—Daure David, Ishaq Abubakar Muhammed, Abdulrashid Abdullahi Musa, and Nasiru Usman Abubakar—pleaded not guilty to the eleven-count charges. Prosecutors argued that Abdulrahman engaged in multiple cyberbullying incidents despite being granted prior administrative bail.
Among the allegations, Abdulrahman is accused of posting a video on TikTok and YouTube linking Senator Umar to sponsorship of banditry, intending to tarnish his reputation and cause fear. Daure David is alleged to have attempted to extort N5 million from the Senator under false pretenses.
The court adjourned the matter to November 10 for further submissions from the defense.
