Dangote Petroleum Refinery has introduced a nationwide hotline for Nigerians to report any MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) above the approved pump price of ₦739 per litre. The initiative aims to promote transparency, affordability, and consumer protection in the downstream petroleum sector.
The hotline, 0800 123 5264, allows consumers to report violations across more than 2,000 MRS stations. The move follows the refinery’s recent launch of nationwide PMS sales at the regulated price of ₦739 per litre, a strategy designed to stabilise fuel prices and reduce the financial burden on Nigerians during the festive season.
Dangote Refinery emphasized its mission to provide affordable, high-quality fuel while protecting national economic interests. A company statement read:
“We encourage Nigerians to avoid purchasing PMS at inflated prices when locally refined fuel is available at ₦739 per litre. Report any MRS station selling above this price via our hotline. Together, we can ensure that the benefits of this price reduction reach every consumer.”
The refinery also highlighted its daily output capacity of 50 million litres and warned against attempts to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply. Regulatory authorities have been urged to monitor the market closely and take decisive action against unethical practices.
By producing fuel locally at scale, Dangote Refinery is reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imports, conserving foreign exchange, stabilizing the Naira, and strengthening energy security. The refinery called on consumers to resist buying fuel at inflated prices and urged government agencies to enforce compliance during the critical festive period.
