Dangote University Management Responds to ASUU Allegations on Audited Accounts

The management of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, has clarified that it inherited a backlog of unaudited accounts and has taken steps to rectify the situation. This response comes after allegations by the university’s ASUU branch accusing management of failing to release audited financial statements.

Key Points from Management’s Statement:

  • Backlog of Audits: Upon assuming office in 2023, the administration under Vice Chancellor Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai inherited unaudited accounts for 2020, 2021, and 2022.
  • External Auditors Engaged: The university engaged external auditors who have completed audits for 2020–2022, which have been released publicly. The 2023 accounts are currently with auditors and will be made public once finalized.
  • Budget Monitoring: The previous Budget Monitoring Committee (BMC) was dissolved after the fifth governing council. A new BMC has been constituted under the sixth council and has reviewed the first two quarters of 2025.
  • Academic Staff Recruitment: The university inherited departments with inadequate staffing and facilities. Requests for additional staff were partially approved by the government, aiding accreditation successes in 2023.
  • Electricity Supply: Management denied any disconnections, explaining that power supply was rationalized due to escalating operational costs.

Management’s Position:

  • ASUU’s allegations are described as unfounded and misleading.
  • The administration emphasizes its commitment to improving teaching, learning facilities, and staff working conditions.
  • Ongoing reforms include proper staffing, budget oversight, and ensuring transparency in financial reporting.
