Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani says his administration’s inclusive leadership—built on fairness, justice, and equitable development—has inspired the wave of defections of opposition lawmakers to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor made this known at a mega rally held at the Kafanchan Township Stadium, where Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, who represents Southern Kaduna, and three other legislators officially joined the APC.
According to Sani, the growing number of defections reflects increasing unity and confidence in his government’s performance.
“As of May 29, 2023, the opposition had 12 members in the House of Representatives while the APC had only four. But in the last two and a half years, 10 of those opposition members have joined our great party.
“In the State Assembly, the PDP had 12 lawmakers, but seven have now crossed over to the APC. This shows that we are running an inclusive government,” he said.
The governor declared that “Kaduna State is now one big happy family under the canopy of the APC,” urging other opposition members to join what he described as “the train of progress.”
Other defectors at the event included Dan Amos (Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency), Ali Kalat (Jema’a Constituency, State Assembly), and Yusuf Mugu (Kaura Constituency), along with thousands of their supporters.
With these latest defections, Southern Kaduna, once considered a stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has effectively become an APC-dominated zone, as all its elected representatives now belong to the ruling party.
