Defend Yourselves Against Terrorists — David Ibiyeomie Tells Northern Christians

Pastor David Ibiyeomie of the Salvation Ministry has urged Nigerians, particularly northern Christians, to take measures to defend themselves against terrorists.

Delivering a sermon in response to recent killings and mass abductions by bandits, including the attack on worshippers in Kwara State, Ibiyeomie cited the biblical example of Jesus’ disciple Peter, who carried a sword while following his master. He encouraged Christians to equip themselves for self-protection.

He said:
“Peter didn’t borrow the sword to cut the servant’s ear; it was the sword he carried. While you pray, carry a walking stick. Peter had a sword because there was no walking stick. He carried it in case someone wanted to harm Jesus.

“Everyone in northern churches should get their own walking stick so when attackers come, they can defend themselves. This nonsense of attacking churches will stop. When they come, you must respond.”

Ibiyeomie’s message comes amid a worsening security crisis in Nigeria, marked by frequent attacks and abductions. In the past week alone, terrorists have assaulted worshippers in Kwara State, kidnapped students from a government school in Kebbi, and attacked a Catholic Church in Niger State.
