Delhi-NCR Railway Stations on High Alert Following Red Fort Car Blast; Dog Squads Deployed

New Delhi, November 11, 2025: In the wake of the deadly explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, which claimed eight lives and injured several others, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has ramped up security across all railway stations in the Delhi-NCR region. Authorities are taking no chances, deploying additional personnel, dog squads, and surveillance measures to prevent any further incidents.

The RPF confirmed that it is working closely with the Government Railway Police (GRP) to enhance vigilance at major stations, ensuring strict security arrangements while attempting to minimize inconvenience to passengers. “All railway officials and security personnel deployed at these stations are on high alert with strict security arrangements,” said Himanshu Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway. “RPF staffers have been stationed at entry gates, exit points, and platforms, and multiple dog squads are being used to inspect luggage and surrounding areas for any suspicious items.”

Major Stations Under Vigilance

Security measures have been intensified at key stations in Delhi and the surrounding region, including New Delhi, Old Delhi, Anand Vihar, Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Ghaziabad. CCTV cameras are being closely monitored, and any passenger displaying unusual behavior is subject to thorough checks. Officials emphasized that continuous communication between RPF and GRP teams is ensuring a coordinated approach to security.

Passengers have been urged to remain calm, follow instructions, and cooperate with security personnel while transit operations continue as normal. The authorities stressed that these steps are precautionary and aim to prevent any escalation in the wake of Monday’s explosion.

Details of the Red Fort Car Blast

The enhanced railway security comes amid heightened alert in the capital city, following a high-intensity explosion near the Red Fort metro station. According to officials, a Hyundai i20 car carrying explosives detonated at a traffic signal, killing at least eight people and damaging several nearby vehicles. The blast sent shockwaves across the area and triggered an immediate security response from local and central agencies.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who visited the site of the explosion, stated that top investigating agencies are probing the incident with full intensity. Two men, identified as Salman and Devender, have been detained by the police in connection with the blast. Authorities noted that the detainees were previous owners of the Hyundai i20 in which the explosives were found.

Coordinated Response Across the Capital

The security response in the aftermath of the Red Fort blast highlights the critical coordination between multiple agencies, including the RPF, GRP, Delhi Police, and other central security forces. Officials have indicated that constant surveillance, increased patrolling, and thorough screening at sensitive locations, such as railway stations and metro hubs, are central to preventing any further threats.

The situation has also prompted increased monitoring of suspicious vehicles and public spaces in and around Delhi-NCR, with specialized units deployed for rapid intervention. “We are taking every possible measure to ensure the safety of passengers and residents,” said an RPF official, adding that these steps are temporary but necessary in light of the ongoing investigation.

As the probe into the Red Fort explosion continues, authorities have emphasized vigilance and public cooperation. Passengers traveling in the Delhi-NCR region are advised to arrive early at stations, maintain alertness, and report any suspicious behavior or unattended items to security personnel.

The Red Fort incident marks one of the most serious attacks in the city in recent months, and the immediate mobilization of security forces reflects the priority being given to public safety in Delhi’s transport infrastructure. With RPF and GRP maintaining constant vigilance and dog squads systematically inspecting luggage and premises, authorities hope to prevent any similar incidents from occurring in the near future.
