Edo Mother Denies Receiving Money From Governor, Demands Justice for Son Killed by Herdsmen

A grieving Edo State mother has strongly denied rumours that she received money from Governor Monday Okpebholo or any other official to stay silent about her son’s death. Her son, Chiboy (also known as Chi Benz), was reportedly stabbed to death by herdsmen in Ogheghe, Edo State, sparking outrage on social media.

In a video that quickly went viral, the bereaved mother addressed the allegations directly, insisting she had not received any financial settlement.

“I heard people are spreading rumours that the governor and some others came to my house and gave me money to keep quiet about my child’s death. I want everyone to know that it’s not true. Nobody came here to give me money. I’m not selling my child to anyone. What I want is justice for my child, not money,” she said.

Condemning the Rumours

The mother expressed frustration at the false claims circulating online, warning those spreading lies to stop immediately.

“People are happy saying I’ve been paid, but that’s not true. Anyone spreading these lies should be careful. The pain I’m feeling will reach them too. If you think it’s funny, it will come back to you and your family,” she said.

She also criticised media outlets for misrepresenting the situation, stating that some reports failed to show the full truth and misled the public.

Appeal to Nigerians and International Audience

The woman extended her message beyond Nigeria, addressing comments from people abroad:

“Even those living abroad are talking about this. You’ve made me suffer, but the pain you’ve caused me will return to you. Anyone who planned this will not go free,” she said.

Justice Over Money

Reiterating her stance, she stressed that she does not want money, only justice for her son.

“Don’t come pretending to help or give me money. I’ve seen what people are saying on social media. You think this is a joke, but it’s not. I call on all mothers in Edo State and beyond to join me in cursing whoever is responsible for my child’s death. May God’s punishment find them wherever they are,” she appealed.

The mother’s heartfelt plea highlights the ongoing concern over security and justice in Edo communities affected by herdsmen attacks.
