EFCC Arrests Female Archbishop in Delta Over Alleged Naira Mutilation and Money Laundering

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Benin Zonal Directorate, have arrested Archbishop Angel Oyeghe, founder of Faith Healing Ministry in Warri, Delta State, over allegations of conspiracy, naira mutilation, and suspected money laundering.

The arrest followed the circulation of a viral video showing several individuals, under Oyeghe’s supervision, spraying naira notes on a live cow during a church service. The EFCC stated that the act violates Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.

In a statement, the Commission said:

“The self-acclaimed Archbishop was arrested following a viral video where several individuals under her supervision were seen spraying naira notes on a live cow during a church programme. The Commission is on the trail of other suspects, as their action contravenes the provision of Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007. Archbishop Oyeghe has made useful statements and will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.”
