
Northwest University, Kano (NWU) has approved a special admission for the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Aminu Sanusi, into its Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) Common Law and Shariah programme, starting from the 2024/2025 academic session.
The approval was communicated in an official letter dated January 12, 2026, issued by the Office of the Registrar through the Directorate of Examinations, Admissions, and Records. The letter, signed on behalf of the Registrar by the Head of the Directorate, Jafaru Sule Muhammad, confirmed that the Emir met the university’s requirements for special consideration.
Sanusi has been admitted directly into Level 200 of the Faculty of Law, bypassing the conventional entry level, reflecting his direct entry status. The letter states:
“With reference to your application for special admission into this University, I write to convey the University approval of your admission into Northwest University, Kano after satisfying the University requirements for special consideration. Accordingly, you have been accepted for admission into LL.B. Common Law and Shariah degree programme in the Faculty of Law, Level 200, effective from the 2024/2025 Academic Session.”
The admission is subject to compliance with the rules and regulations outlined in the Northwest University Student Handbook. The university also instructed the newly admitted student to complete all necessary registration processes, including enrollment with the ICT Unit, Bursary Department, Faculty/Department, University Library, and Student Affairs Division.
Northwest University, Kano, a state-owned institution, offers programmes in law and other disciplines, with admissions strictly guided by established academic and administrative regulations.
