Emma Chamberlain Explains Why She Keeps Dating Musicians — and Why She Says They “Choose” Her First

Emma Chamberlain is opening up about her dating patterns — and why musicians seem to keep finding their way into her life. The YouTuber-turned-podcaster and fashion icon sat down with her friend Owen Thiele on his In Your Dreams podcast, where she addressed fans’ long-running curiosity about her romantic history with artists.

Over the past five years, Chamberlain has been romantically linked to two singer-songwriters: Role Model (Tucker Pillsbury) and Peter McPoland. Both relationships sparked major interest from her devoted fanbase, and now, she’s finally sharing her take on why she keeps ending up with men in music.

“I Swear They Choose Me”

During the Nov. 28 episode, titled I Got Stuffed with Emma Chamberlain, Thiele jokingly confronted his friend:
“Emma, can I ask you a question? Why do you keep dating musicians?”

Chamberlain burst into laughter before responding with a playful nod to Sabrina Carpenter:
“Can I answer this with a quote?”

Then she delivered the line:
“‘I swear they choose me, I’m not choosing them.’”
— a lyric from Carpenter’s song “Manchild” off the Man’s Best Friend album.

She added through more laughter,
“No, they choose me. And… I choose them a little too.”

“I’ve Never Slid Into a Musician’s DMs”

To prove her point, Chamberlain shared what she called “interesting evidence.”

“I have never slid into the DM of a musician,” she said.
“Only ever has the music man slid into mine.”

She also noted that she’s never approached a musician at a bar — but musicians have approached her.

Thiele countered, suggesting she naturally “attracts” that type, asking whether seeing someone on stage makes her more drawn to them. Chamberlain admitted there’s something appealing about seeing someone passionate about their craft, but clarified it’s not the main reason.

“Any guy doing anything they love — that’s hot,” she explained.
Whether it’s a musician, a baseball player, or anyone confident and dedicated, she said the appeal comes from passion itself, not the profession.

Reflecting on Her Past Relationships

Chamberlain clarified that her musician romances weren’t exactly intentional.

Her first high-profile relationship — with Role Model, whom she dated from 2020 to 2023 — wasn’t influenced by his career at all.
“It was random that he made music,” she said. “I didn’t care about that.”

As for the second time — widely believed to be with Peter McPoland — Chamberlain says she didn’t even know he made music until after they met.
“I was like, ‘Oh no, we’re doing this again,’” she joked.

What It’s Like When Someone Writes Songs About You

Thiele also asked what it feels like to have partners create music inspired by her — something fans have long speculated about.

Chamberlain said it’s actually eye-opening:
“I’ve learned truly how perhaps people have felt about me through music.”

Sometimes, she added, the lyrics reveal more emotion than the relationship did in real time.
“It’s weird when you hear more in the music than in real life,” she said.
“You’re like, ‘Wait, really? You feel that way?’”

Emma Confirms She’s Newly Single

At 24, Chamberlain recently confirmed she is single again on her own podcast, Anything Goes. In the Nov. 13 episode, she revealed she’s coping with a breakup after a “serious, two-year relationship.”

“We really deeply loved each other,” she shared, offering a rare glimpse into her otherwise private romantic world.

Rumors previously tied her to Peter McPoland after the two were spotted together during the 2024 Paris Olympics and later wearing coordinated Halloween costumes.

Now, Chamberlain says she’s simply navigating life, love, and self-discovery — musician boyfriends or not.
