England Rugby Players Face TikTok Dance ‘Fines’ After All Blacks Victory

England rugby players are taking a creative approach to squad discipline by using TikTok dance challenges as part of their internal fines system. The unusual method has gone viral following England’s 33-19 victory over New Zealand in the Quilter Nations Series.

TikTok Dances as Squad Punishments

Wing Tommy Freeman, who missed the All Blacks clash due to a hamstring injury, posted a video featuring himself alongside Fin Smith, Henry Pollock, and Freddie Steward performing a synchronized dance to Irish country music.

Captioned “Post game feels”, the video has already racked up seven million views on TikTok. The dance was reportedly coordinated over about 45 minutes in a hotel room, according to centre Henry Slade.

While it’s unclear whether Freeman’s video was part of a formal squad penalty or purely celebratory, England’s fines committee, which includes Elliot Daly and Jamie George, has confirmed that similar videos have been used to enforce minor squad rules.

“There are a few fines going around that are TikTok dances,” said Daly.
“If you do something wrong, you do a TikTok video. Although it doesn’t have to go on TikTok.”

Coaches and Social Media Fun

Head coach Steve Borthwick has even been roped into a cameo appearance in one of the videos. However, he assured the media that participation is limited and controlled, with most clips remaining private within the squad.

“There has been a lot of laughter, a lot of very bad dancing—I think that is one of the better ones,” Borthwick commented about the Freeman, Steward, Pollock, and Smith routine.
“The team saw it and that is as far as it is going!”

This lighthearted approach to team fines has clearly boosted morale while also generating widespread attention online, highlighting a more modern and creative side to England’s rugby culture.

England Rugby’s Winning Momentum

The TikTok activity comes after England’s ninth win over the All Blacks in 120 years, a historic achievement for the squad. They now look to continue their success in the Quilter Nations Series with a match against Argentina on Sunday, aiming for their 11th straight victory.
