The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has been honoured with the Centre for International Advanced and Professional Studies (CIAPS) 2025 Excellence Award for her transformative leadership in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

The award, presented at CIAPS’ end-of-year public lecture, awards ceremony, and cocktail in Lagos, recognises Mrs. Kuku’s exemplary leadership, strategic contributions to national development, and her efforts to modernise Nigerian airports since taking office two years ago.

CIAPS noted that the 2025 edition of the Excellence Awards celebrated individuals whose influence goes beyond their immediate roles, driving broader societal advancement. Mrs. Kuku’s selection followed a rigorous assessment process including performance reviews, sectoral nominations, and independent verification.

Under her stewardship, FAAN has seen renewed operational efficiency, improved stakeholder engagement, and accelerated reforms aimed at modernising Nigeria’s airport infrastructure. CIAPS described her as “a dynamic, forward-thinking administrator whose results-driven leadership sets new benchmarks in the aviation sector.”

Represented at the ceremony by FAAN’s General Manager, Administration, Mrs. Oluwasola Awe, Mrs. Kuku expressed appreciation for the recognition, emphasizing that it reflects the collective effort of FAAN’s workforce. She said the award motivates her team to deepen reforms, enhance service quality, and position Nigeria’s airports among the best in Africa.

Highlighting initiatives under her leadership, Mrs. Kuku noted FAAN’s Acculturation Programme, which strengthens staff skills, work culture, and values to meet modern aviation demands. She also highlighted monthly internal excellence awards for staff, which recognise outstanding performance and boost morale across the organisation.

The CIAPS 2025 Excellence Award further affirms Mrs. Kuku’s remarkable impact on the aviation industry, showcasing her commitment to innovation, professionalism, and national development.
