FCMB Partners FMO, HeaveVentures to Boost AgriTech Innovation

First City Monument Bank (FCMB), in collaboration with the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank (FMO) and HeaveVentures, has successfully concluded the FCMB AgriTech Hackathon 2025, an initiative aimed at accelerating innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation across Nigeria’s agricultural value chain.

The hackathon brought together seven forward-thinking startups, each presenting technology-driven solutions designed to address long-standing challenges in the agriculture sector.

After several rounds of pitching and mentorship sessions, Qiqi Farms emerged the overall winner, with Farm Monitor and Tuplant taking second and third place respectively. Other participating startups — Llyon Farms, AgriX, Freshfare, and PalmShops — received ₦1 million consolation grants in recognition of their innovative contributions.

Speaking at the event, Kudzai Gumunyu, FCMB’s Divisional Head for Agribusiness and Non-Oil Exports, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to empowering innovators:

“This hackathon reflects FCMB’s dedication to supporting the next generation of agritech entrepreneurs. By connecting startups to funding, mentorship, and markets, we are helping transform Nigeria’s agricultural sector into a digitally driven, globally competitive industry.”

Abiodun Lawal, CEO of HeaveVentures, also highlighted the importance of collaboration:

“This hackathon demonstrates the power of partnership between financial institutions and the tech ecosystem.”

The initiative further strengthens FCMB’s role in fostering inclusive growth and technological advancement within Nigeria’s agriculture sector, positioning agritech as a key driver of national development.
