FCT Minister Wike Orders Demolition of Abuja Property Despite Court Restraint, Police Sell Salvaged Materials

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has been accused of overseeing an unlawful demolition of a prime property in Abuja, in apparent defiance of a pending court order. Officials from the FCT Development Control, backed by heavily armed police officers, demolished a property owned by Most Realty and Investment Limited in Kukwaba District, despite being formally served with court papers restraining any action.

The property, initially identified as Plot 541B, Cadastral Zone B00, was demolished and later re-designated as Plot 833B, raising concerns of potential reallocation. Following the demolition, police officers returned to the site with scavengers, who purchased iron rods and other materials salvaged from the destroyed structures.

The dispute centers on a lawsuit filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (Suit No: FCT/HC/CV/4425/2025 – Most Realty and Investment Limited v. The Honourable Minister of FCT & 4 Ors) on November 4, 2025. Court documents confirm that Most Realty has been the equitable and beneficial owner of the property since July 2007 and has maintained uninterrupted possession for over 17 years.

The owner, Moses, told SaharaReporters that the FCT Minister moved to revoke the property without issuing any formal notice of revocation as required by law. Despite repeated notices from the company’s lawyers about the pending court case, FCTA officials, accompanied by bulldozers and armed police, carried out the demolition on December 16, 2025.

“I have been paying all required fees without issue. People have even offered ₦1 billion to ₦1.5 billion for the land, but our intention is to develop it with Chinese partners,” Moses said. He explained that government officials had warned of imminent demolition within 24 hours, even after court documents were served.

Moses described how security posts, perimeter fences, and all structures were destroyed, with police officers and other personnel seen selling salvaged materials. He added that he deliberately stayed away from the site to prevent confrontation and urged a peaceful approach.

The case remains pending before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory.
