FCT Minister Wike Sacks FCT Revenue Boss Michael Ango Amid Rising Tensions

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed Mr. Michael Ango, the Acting Executive Chairman of the FCT Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), in a move described as part of a broader reorganisation of revenue-generating institutions within the territory.

The announcement was made on Friday, December 5, 2025, through a statement by Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka. The statement noted that the removal takes immediate effect and directed the most senior official of the FCT-IRS to assume leadership of the agency.

“The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has sacked the Acting Executive Chairman of the FCT-IRS, Mr. Michael Ango. The most senior official of the FCT-IRS has been directed to take over the running of the revenue agency with immediate effect,” the statement read.

The minister did not disclose the specific reasons for Ango’s removal.
