Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy (Damini Ogulu) has declared that Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti is the only African artist greater than himself.

Speaking during a recent livestream with Australian streamer Playboymax, Burna Boy said:

“He [Fela Kuti] is the king. He is the only one [African artist] who is greater than me. He is the only one.”

The bold statement has sparked mixed reactions, with some fans describing it as overreaching.
