Female FRSC Officer and Daughter Murdered in Suspected Ritual Killing; Suspects Arrested

Osun State Police have arrested three men in connection with the brutal murder of a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer, Mrs. Lasisi Funmilayo, and her 12-year-old daughter. The suspects have confessed to slaughtering and dismembering the victims in a shocking case allegedly motivated by money ritual beliefs.

The suspects were paraded on Wednesday by the State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, at the command headquarters in Osogbo. They are:

  • Fajemirokun Victor (38): A friend of the deceased officer.
  • Gboyega Aberefa (39): An herbalist based in Ijebu-Jesa.
  • Sunday James (38): A disciple of the herbalist. Two other accomplices, Kehinde and Idowu, remain at large.

According to CP Gotan, the investigation was triggered on November 16 when Fajemirokun’s wife reported him missing. Police traced his last known location to Ikoyi, where only his abandoned vehicle was found. Further detective work led to the arrest of the herbalist, Aberefa, who then implicated the others.

Confessions Reveal Gruesome Details

The suspects provided chilling accounts of the crime, which occurred on November 2, 2025.

  • Fajemirokun Victor claimed he took the victims to the herbalist after being told the woman was the source of his life’s misfortunes. “I agreed to her being killed for me to make it in life,” he confessed. “But after the act, I was disturbed and ran away.” He fled to Ibadan, obtained money under false pretenses, and attempted to escape to Ghana before his arrest.
  • Herbalist Gboyega Aberefa presented a different version, painting Fajemirokun as the primary instigator. “He brought the woman and her daughter to my place and insisted that we kill them,” Aberefa stated. He claimed he refused to allow the killing in his house and instead enlisted his boys, who took the victims to a bush. There, they were slaughtered, and their vital organs were removed. The mother’s body was dumped in a river in Esa-Odo, while the daughter’s was left in a nearby bush.

Commissioner Gotan confirmed that the victims were dismembered, and their heads along with several organs were taken away.

The police have launched a manhunt for the two remaining suspects. The case has sent shockwaves through the state, highlighting grave concerns about ritual killings and gender-based violence.
