In a significant step toward strengthening healthcare delivery through clean and reliable energy, JMG Limited has donated a 10-kilowatt solar power system to the Agboyi-Ketu Primary Healthcare Centre in Lagos State. The company said the initiative reflects its deep commitment to sustainable development and social impact in local communities.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Group General Manager of JMG Limited, Rabih Jammal, said the project demonstrates the company’s belief that reliable electricity is fundamental to quality healthcare and human development.
“Reliable power and energy access are essential to life, healthcare, and human progress,” Jammal said. “Through this project—and others like the Bariga initiative last year—we reaffirm our mission to light up lives, empower communities, and build a cleaner, greener, and more resilient future.”
He noted that uninterrupted electricity is crucial for medical professionals to deliver timely care and save lives.
“We are using the power of the sun to protect both the planet and its people,” he added.
The installed system includes 10kW of solar capacity and 20kWh battery storage, ensuring stable power for essential medical operations and eliminating disruptions that previously affected service delivery.
Jammal emphasised that maintaining the system will be a shared responsibility between JMG and the host community.
“JMG will always be there to support, but it’s a partnership effort,” he said.
Impact on Healthcare Delivery
The Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Adetola Abubakar, said the donation marks a turning point for healthcare delivery in the locality.
“Power outages during critical medical moments—especially during childbirth or surgical procedures—will now be a thing of the past,” she said. “Our healthcare professionals can work with renewed confidence, knowing that the tools they rely on will remain powered at all times.”
She added that the project guarantees better-quality care for residents and enhances the centre’s ability to deliver world-class services in a sustainable environment. Abubakar also praised JMG’s leadership—particularly Executive Director Francis Meshioye—for championing initiatives that contribute to national development.
Government Welcomes the Initiative
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District 2, Dayo Lajide, described the solar project as critical to saving lives and improving emergency response capacity.
“With 24-hour power supply now available, all our equipment can function optimally whenever needed,” she said. “Healthcare workers are better empowered to deliver quality care, and the constant power interruptions we experienced in the past will no longer hinder our operations.”
Lajide also assured the community that the state government is addressing safety concerns surrounding the centre’s lack of a perimeter fence.
The donation, JMG said, is part of a long-term Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda focused on clean energy access, community empowerment, and sustainable impact. The company pledged to expand similar solar-powered projects across more communities in the coming years.
