First Lady Urges Unity for Nigeria’s Prosperity

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity and peaceful coexistence as the essential foundation for the nation’s prosperity. She believes that harmony among citizens not only attracts divine blessings but also strengthens the process of nation-building.

Senator Tinubu made this statement during the annual food distribution event for the Christian Northern Nigeria Political Forum (CNNPF) in Kaduna, held in celebration of the Christmas and New Year festivities.

Drawing inspiration from the Holy Bible, she stressed the importance of unity, saying that when people live together harmoniously, they invite God’s blessings upon their lives.

In a statement issued by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful and continue believing in the country, despite both local and global challenges.

“Let us all stay committed to making Nigeria great again. Good things are already happening in this country,” she said.

Mrs. Tinubu reiterated that peace and unity are crucial for sustainable development. She emphasized that true nation-building happens when citizens view each other as brothers and sisters, regardless of their religious or ethnic backgrounds.

The First Lady also praised Kaduna State for its efforts in promoting interfaith harmony, commending Governor Uba Sani for his leadership in fostering peace. She urged other states to follow Kaduna’s example in building peaceful, inclusive communities.

Mrs. Tinubu expressed her gratitude to Governor Sani and his wife, Hajia Hafsat Uba Sani, for their hospitality and efforts in demonstrating that peaceful coexistence across different religious and ethnic groups is not only possible but achievable.

Furthermore, she called on Nigerians in the creative industry to join forces with the government in nation-building. Recognizing their growing global influence, she believes they can serve as powerful ambassadors of unity and national pride.

“Our stars should please come and join us in building this nation. I am available, if they want me to partner with them,” she added.

Governor Uba Sani praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the First Lady, describing them as leaders deeply committed to service, compassion, and fostering national unity. He emphasized that the First Lady’s philanthropy transcends religious, ethnic, and regional boundaries, reinforcing social cohesion across the country.

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia also acknowledged that Kaduna State has experienced significant improvements in peace, attributing it to purposeful leadership—an approach that mirrors the President’s example at the national level.

In his remarks, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, assured Nigerians that the ongoing initiatives by the APC-led Federal Government and APC-controlled states would lead to a better 2026 for the citizens.

The National Coordinator of CNNPF, Ibrahim Itodo, praised President Tinubu for his commitment to national unity and prayed for his successful re-election in 2027. He also encouraged northern governors to adopt Kaduna State’s peace-building model to promote greater harmony in their states.

The annual food distribution program, organized by the Office of the First Lady in collaboration with the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, provided support to over 48,000 people across 19 northern states this year.
