A man’s freedom was short-lived as the Lagos State Police Command rearrested him for theft just days after he left prison.
Segun Kolawole, 25, was released from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre only to be arrested again five days later at Oshodi Market. According to police, officers grew suspicious of his behaviour and upon searching him, found ₦80,000 and a smartphone.
Investigations revealed the items were stolen from a trader in Opebi, from whom Kolawole allegedly stole ₦200,000 and the phone while the victim slept. He had already spent part of the money on new clothes and shoes.
In an unrelated case, the police also arrested two pickpockets, Sodiq Isa and Adekanmbi Ganiu, who targeted commuters in traffic. All three suspects are now in custody awaiting prosecution.
