Flavour Tells Critic to ‘Invest in Own Label’ Amid Debate on Supporting Young Artists

Music superstar Flavour has responded to a critic who accused him of neglecting emerging Igbo artists in favour of personal projects.

The critic, identified as Charles, claimed that Flavour prioritises collaborations with personalities like comedian Odumeje over supporting talented young Igbo musicians. Charles wrote on social media:

“We have wonderfully talented Igbo boys scattered all over the South East trying to survive in their music career with no verse, no signing, no promotion from these so-called Igbo superstars. @2niteFlavour never deemed it fit to give any of these guys support of whatever kind, instead he’s wasting money and time on a fake pastor and comedian Odumeje…”

Charles further argued that many young talents in Igbo land end up jobless or abandoned because established artists fail to promote them.

In response, Flavour advised Charles in Igbo: “Jee chuba ego. Chuta ego,” which translates to “Go make money”, encouraging him to establish his own music label to uplift emerging talents.

He added:

“I have given you people one serious advice for the new year. Jee chuba ego o. Chuta ego then start your own label make you help the wonderfully talented Igbo boys scattered all over. Make us proud, Odogwu Charles.”

Flavour’s reply shifts the conversation toward proactive action, urging critics to support young artists by creating opportunities themselves rather than relying solely on established stars.
