Former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika narrowly avoided a mob attack on Tuesday while visiting the palace of the District Head of Dutsi in Katsina State. The incident took place in Dutsi town, Dutsi Local Government Area, where Sirika was on a condolence visit.
Sirika, who holds the traditional title of Marusan Katsina and serves as the district head of Shargalle in Dutsi, reportedly faced the wrath of an angry crowd that had gathered inside and around the palace.
Videos circulating online and shared by Katsina City News show chaotic scenes, including a man being forcefully dragged out of the palace amid shouting from the crowd. In another clip, Sirika was hurriedly rescued and driven away in a Honda vehicle, preventing the situation from escalating into violence.
SaharaReporters reported that aides and security operatives intervened to protect the former minister from potential harm. The cause of the crowd’s anger remains unclear.
Earlier in August 2025, the Katsina Emirate Council appointed Sirika, along with Umar, son of Governor Dikko Radda, and four others as additional district heads. Sirika’s appointment as Marusan Katsina and district head of Shargalle was announced in a statement by Bello Ifo, Secretary to the Katsina Emirate Council.
