Freshly Called Nigerian Lawyer Kidnapped En Route to Ekiti

A newly admitted Nigerian lawyer, Ajewole Dare Isaac, has reportedly been kidnapped by gunmen while traveling from Abuja to Ekiti State, just days after his formal Call to Bar ceremony.

Isaac was among 942 new lawyers officially enrolled during the November 2025 Call to Bar in Abuja. A source familiar with the incident told SaharaReporters on Wednesday that the young lawyer was attacked on the highway during his journey.

“He barely survived law school. How will he pay ransom?” the source lamented. “This man, who struggled to feed himself during law school, was kidnapped last week on his way to Ekiti after his Call to Bar.”

The abduction has caused immense concern for Isaac’s family, who are anxiously awaiting his safe release.

At the recent ceremony, the Chairman of the Body of Benchers and former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, urged the new lawyers to uphold the highest standards of ethics and professionalism.

Justice Ariwoola described the legal profession as a noble calling rooted in integrity, discipline, and service, emphasizing that public confidence in the justice system relies heavily on the conduct of legal practitioners. He reminded the 942 newly enrolled lawyers to avoid misconduct and remain committed to the core values of the profession.
