The 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards took place on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. Hosted for the second year in a row by comedian Nikki Glaser, the ceremony honored the best in film, television, and podcasts, highlighting stars like Teyana Taylor, Timothée Chalamet, Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, and Amy Poehler.

From red carpet moments to groundbreaking wins, the night was packed with memorable events, laughter, and heartfelt speeches.

Teyana Taylor Juggles Culinary School and Hollywood Stardom

Before the ceremony, Taylor, 35, revealed that she had requested a homework extension from her culinary school, the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts, to attend the Globes.

“I do be scared when I be like, ‘Oh my God, oh my God. My deadline is on Tuesday. I gotta have my meal in by Tuesday.’ But I spoke to my chef yesterday and he’s giving me an extension so I can turn my assignment in on Thursday,” Taylor explained on the red carpet.

Taylor praised her school’s support, saying, “Shoutout Escoffier—they’ve been very, very supportive of me.”

Her dedication to balancing her “double life” as a student and an award-winning actress impressed fans and fellow attendees alike.

Teyana Taylor’s Historic Golden Globe Win

Taylor’s perseverance paid off when she won her first Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in One Battle After Another.

Onstage, Taylor thanked her parents and loved ones, calling them her “grounding force,” and paid tribute to director Paul Thomas Anderson:

“Thank you for your vision, your trust, and your brilliance. My gratitude is endless. I love you, we love you, and thank you so much for holding space for me and our entire cast.”

She concluded with an empowering message to young women of color:

“Our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.”

Backstage, Taylor shared her excitement with reporters:

“I’m still gagging right now. I’m just like, oh, my God. I’m so happy. I’m filled with so much gratitude. I don’t take any of this for granted.”

Emotional Red Carpet Encounter with Julia Roberts

Taylor had another unforgettable moment on the red carpet when she met her idol, Julia Roberts, who presented One Battle After Another with the award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

“She’s literally one of my heroes, and what she poured into me literally had me crying,” Taylor said. “She poured so much life into me and I needed that. Oh my God, that was amazing.”

The heartwarming interaction left both Taylor and fans emotional, capturing one of the night’s most touching moments.

Nikki Glaser Hosts: Jokes, Roasts, and CBS News

Nikki Glaser, 41, returned for her second consecutive year as host, bringing her signature edgy humor to the Globes.

Roasting Celebrities

Glaser’s opening monologue included playful digs at Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, and Julia Roberts, among others. Some jokes didn’t make the telecast, including:

  • Brad Pitt: “Brad, I don’t want to embarrass you, but your blinker was on the whole time.”
  • Julia Roberts: “I’m assuming the hunt [in After the Hunt] was to find someone who’s seen it.”
  • Sean Penn, Jonathan Bailey, Sydney Sweeney: Glaser shared several witty cuts while keeping the humor respectful.

Roast of CBS News
