Gov Radda Presents N897.8bn 2026 Budget to Katsina Assembly

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has presented a proposed budget of ₦897.8 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly, pledging to consolidate ongoing reforms and accelerate development across the state.

The budget, titled “Building Your Future III,” represents a 29.7 percent increase from the 2025 fiscal plan, reflecting the administration’s commitment to infrastructure expansion, social welfare, and inclusive governance.

Of the total proposal, ₦167.7 billion is allocated for recurrent expenditure, while ₦730.1 billion — about 81 percent of the total — is earmarked for capital projects.

Governor Radda, while presenting the appropriation bill before lawmakers, said the 2026 budget was designed through a participatory process, incorporating inputs from residents across the state’s 361 communities and 316 wards. He noted that this inclusive approach ensures that planned projects align with citizens’ needs and priorities.

A breakdown of the sectoral allocations shows the economic sector receiving the largest share with ₦371.8 billion (41.4%), followed by the social sector with ₦341.4 billion (38%). The administrative sector is allocated ₦177.2 billion, while law and justice receive ₦7.3 billion.

Governor Radda reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prudent resource management, transparency, and people-centered development as key pillars of the 2026 fiscal agenda.
