Harrison Gwamnishu Issues Public Apology Over Allegations of Mismanaged Funds

Harrison Gwamnishu, a Nigerian activist known for helping rescue kidnapped victims, publicly apologized on January 3, 2026, following allegations that he misappropriated over ₦5 million intended for a ransom payment in Edo State.

Harrison was arrested in December 2025 for allegedly taking money meant to rescue a kidnapped couple, Mr. and Mrs. Segiru, and was granted bail on December 19, 2025 by the Edo State High Court.

In a video posted to his Instagram, he admitted to poor accountability in handling funds entrusted to him and directly apologized to those affected, including:

  • Madam Tudja, who sent him ₦600,000 for a case he handled without proper communication.
  • Franklin, whose case he delegated to another person, promising to repay the agreed amount monthly.
  • Social media activist VeryDarkMan, acknowledging his role and expressing gratitude for his advocacy.

Harrison acknowledged the hurt caused to supporters who had stood by him during his detention and asked for direct messages from anyone he may have wronged, pledging to resolve all outstanding issues.

He said:

“I have made mistakes. I own up to my mistakes… I have not been well accountable in managing resources maybe given to me to handle for some cases. I’m sincerely sorry.”

The apology comes amid a broader social media backlash, with many calling him out for allegedly collecting money to intervene in personal security cases.
