Actor Harshvardhan Rane, who is currently basking in the success of his recent romantic drama Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, has humbly addressed comparisons being drawn between him and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Following a report by a news portal highlighting his box office success, several fans and media outlets likened him to SRK, noting that he is one of the very few actors post-COVID to deliver two hits in a single year. However, Rane dismissed the comparison, calling Shah Rukh Khan “God” and describing himself as a “humble devotee.”

Rane’s Response to the Comparison

Taking to his Instagram story, Harshvardhan shared a screenshot of the portal’s headline:

“Box Office: With Only ₹87.9 Crore Total, Harshvardhan Rane Achieves a Record No Other Bollywood Actor Could Touch Post-COVID.”

Reacting to it, Rane wrote in Hindi:

“Unhone ek saal mein do baar apne God-level stardom se kiya, mera ek saal mein do baar unhe follow karne se gaya hai! Please, I beg you not to even put my name alongside his in any article. He is God, aur main unka ek mamuli pujari hoon!”

In English, he explained: “He achieved it twice in a year with his god-level stardom, while I did it twice in a year merely by following him. Please, I beg you not to mention my name alongside his. He is God, and I am just one of his humble devotees.”

Rane’s post reflects both his admiration for Shah Rukh Khan and his humility in the face of media comparisons, emphasizing that SRK’s success remains in a league of its own.

Harshvardhan Rane’s Recent Releases

Earlier this year, in February 2025, Harshvardhan’s romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam was re-released in theatres. Although the film had underperformed during its initial run, it became India’s highest-grossing re-release, earning over ₹33 crore domestically, bringing its total domestic collection to ₹42.28 crore and worldwide earnings to ₹54.2 crore.

Following this, his Diwali 2025 release, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, also turned out to be a commercial success despite releasing alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma. The film, which had a budget of ₹25 crore, recovered its costs within four days and went on to collect ₹52.5 crore domestically and ₹71.8 crore worldwide.

Rane’s back-to-back box office performances have established him as a rising talent in the post-pandemic Bollywood industry.

Comparing Post-COVID Box Office Achievements

The news portal’s comparison drew attention to Shah Rukh Khan’s record-breaking comeback in 2023. SRK’s action thriller Pathaan grossed ₹1,050 crore worldwide, followed by Jawan with ₹1,160 crore globally. He also starred in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, which collected ₹454 crore worldwide, making him the only actor in the post-COVID era to deliver three consecutive blockbusters in a single year.

Harshvardhan Rane, in contrast, achieved two hits in a year post-COVID, a remarkable feat in its own right, though he remains modest, acknowledging SRK’s unmatched success and star power.

Upcoming Projects

Shah Rukh Khan is currently shooting for his upcoming action film King, directed by Siddharth Anand. The film also stars Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Saurabh Shukla in key roles and is expected to release in 2026.

Meanwhile, Harshvardhan Rane will next be seen in Silaa, co-starring Sadia Khateeb and Karanveer Mehra. The release date for the film has not yet been announced.

Humility and Admiration

Harshvardhan Rane’s response to the comparisons highlights his humility and respect for industry veterans. By openly calling SRK “God” and referring to himself as a “mamuli pujari” (ordinary devotee), Rane not only distances himself from inflated claims but also acknowledges the monumental legacy of Shah Rukh Khan in Indian cinema.

His candid reaction has been widely appreciated by fans and media alike, reinforcing his image as a grounded and humble actor in an industry often dominated by hyperbolic claims and media comparisons.
