The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) went ahead with its 2026 Osun State governorship primary on Tuesday at the Adolak Event Centre, Osogbo, despite a state leadership crisis.
Key highlights:
- 957 of 990 delegates from the 30 local government areas were accredited.
- Heavy security presence included Police, NSCDC, and DSS personnel.
- The primary committee, chaired by Humphery Abba, and INEC officials were on site to oversee the exercise.
- Senator Ademola Adeleke, initially a candidate, withdrew from the race following the party’s internal issues.
- Other aspirants, including Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola, remain in contention.
The PDP’s National Organising Secretary, Theophilous Shan, insisted the primary proceed despite the state chapter’s earlier declaration that it could not hold.
