A 28-year-old man, Victor Cletus, has been arrested for allegedly defrauding and sexually assaulting a woman by pretending to be a medical doctor.
DAILY POST reports that Cletus, who works as a cleaner at Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, allegedly posed as a surgeon to gain the victim’s trust.
According to the victim, Cletus contacted her on Snapchat, and believing his fabricated credentials, she confided in him about a medical concern involving a lump in her right breast. The suspect reportedly demanded money for a supposed surgical procedure, deceitfully instructing her to meet him on November 18, 2025.
Instead of providing medical care, Cletus allegedly sexually assaulted her, stole money from her Opay account, and continued demanding sexual favors without performing any procedure.
Confirming the arrest, Police Spokesperson Omolola Odutola stated that the suspect is under investigation and will face prosecution. She warned the public, particularly young women, to exercise caution on social media, where criminals often use false identities to deceive and exploit vulnerable individuals.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, condemned the act, emphasizing that the Command will not tolerate online predators or criminal impostors who exploit women.
