How Yahoo Boys Inspired Bella Shmurda’s Hit Song ‘Cash App’

Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has revealed the inspiration behind his hit track Cash App, explaining that it was created with internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys, in mind.

In an interview with Clout Africa, Shmurda said he aimed to connect with this group through a song that reflects their struggles and motivates them. “It is Yahoo in the sense that they [Yahoo boys] have to dance. These people who are hustling, you have to make them happy,” he explained.

Bella Shmurda emphasized that the song’s inspiration came naturally. “The truth is, when it comes to inspiration, you don’t have any story behind it. It is natural; it just comes. It is God-given,” he said.

Cash App, which features Zlatan and Lincoln, was released in 2020 and quickly became a hit in Nigeria and across other African countries, solidifying Bella Shmurda’s position in the music industry.
