‘I Did Not Betray Anyone’ – Benue Assembly Member Agom Responds to Sen. Moro

Agom Anthony, lawmaker representing Okpokwu State Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, has denied accusations of betrayal made against him by Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro.

Senator Moro had claimed that Agom was ungrateful and had betrayed him while addressing members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Okpokwu Local Government Area.

In a statement released on Friday, Agom clarified the situation, emphasizing his loyalty to Governor Hyacinth Alia and his commitment to the people of his constituency.

He said:

“I am not ungrateful or a betrayer. My loyalty lies with the people and the vision of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia.”

Agom explained that, as a two-time member of the Benue State House of Assembly, his alignment with the governor’s policies and programmes stems from a desire to serve his constituents effectively, rather than personal ambition or disloyalty.

He further noted that Senator Moro, who he considers a political mentor, had originally advised him to support Governor Alia to bring tangible benefits to his people, and he has adhered to this guidance.

“I have always prioritized the needs of our people over political rivalries,” Agom stated.
“It is disheartening to be labeled a betrayer and ungrateful when my focus has been on fostering unity, progress, and supporting the Benue State Governor.”

Agom also expressed confusion over the recent accusations, reiterating his steadfast commitment to Governor Alia and urging his supporters to remain focused on advancing development, workers’ welfare, and prosperity in Benue State.
