ICPC Urges Niger State Workers to Uphold Integrity, Accountability

– The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has called on staff of the Niger State Ministry of Works and Infrastructural Development to prioritize transparency and accountability in all aspects of their duties.

The call was made by Mr. Kennedy Ebhotemen, Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner for Niger State, during a courtesy visit to the ministry in Minna.

“The ICPC’s mission is to build a public service culture rooted in honesty and discipline. Public officers must keep away from corruption in all its forms,” Ebhotemen said, emphasizing that the ministry’s role in the state’s development makes ethical conduct essential.

He further noted that corruption undermines development, erodes public trust, and must be actively combated. Ebhotemen urged that companies handling government projects be closely monitored to ensure compliance with contract terms and value for public funds.

“MDAs must strengthen internal monitoring mechanisms to track project progress and ensure transparency in procurement and implementation,” he added.

Responding, Quantity Surveyor Hassan Baba Estu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, thanked the ICPC for the enlightenment session and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery.

“Our Ministry remains committed to good governance and sustainable development. We also welcome ICPC’s workshops and training programmes to deepen staff understanding of ethical conduct in public service,” Estu stated.
