Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has vowed to continue giving his political opponents sleepless nights, asserting that those in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), or African Democratic Congress (ADC) will face his relentless scrutiny as long as he acts within the law.
Wike made the declaration on Thursday during a media briefing following an FCT Executive Committee meeting, while defending his recent confrontation with Lieutenant AM Yerima, a Naval officer, during a land dispute in Abuja’s Gaduwa area.
The dispute involves a plot of land originally allocated for parks and recreation, which was reportedly being altered by its owner, retired Chief of Naval Staff Awwal Gambo. Efforts by FCT officials to prevent the illegal conversion of the land were reportedly blocked by military officers at the site.
Aggrieved by the obstruction, Wike personally visited the property with his team but was denied access by Yerima and the military personnel, sparking a heated argument that quickly escalated into a national controversy.
Commenting on the incident, Wike stated:
“I have no regrets. I will continue to make my political opponents have sleepless nights, whether you are in PDP, APC, or ADC. As long as I know I’m standing by the law, bring any ethnicity or colouration—it’s your business.”
The minister’s remarks underscore his commitment to enforcing the law, even in the face of resistance from influential figures and political rivals.
