Nollywood actress and chef, Sarah Oghenekaro Akatugba, popularly known as Sarah Sweet, has opened up about her single status, revealing that her decision to remain unmarried stems from her disappointment in men’s deceit and lack of responsibility.
In a candid interview, the curvy actress said she often gets questioned about her relationship status but chooses to stay single for reasons beyond public assumptions.
“I am not single because I don’t have people asking me out,” she said. “I am single because I am really tired of men’s deceit, disrespect, and inability to be responsible.”
Sarah Sweet, who has built a name for herself both in Nollywood and the culinary world, emphasized that loyalty, trust, and genuine friendship are the core values she looks for in relationships.
“We have a lot of people who do not understand what it means to call someone your friend. Friendship is someone you know well enough to vouch for, not just an acquaintance or colleague. I am very big on loyalty.
“If I call you my friend, I am a hundred and ten per cent out for you. I don’t envy or backbite, and I expect the same energy. Friendship and loyalty are very important to me. For me to call you my friend means a lot,” she explained.
Nicknamed the “Queen of 110%”, Sarah said she gives her all in everything she does — including love — and expects any man interested in her to “come correct.”
“If you have to be my husband, you have to come correct,” she added with confidence.
Beyond acting, Sarah Sweet has also continued to make an impact off-screen. Her participation in Empire Mansion Season 2, a reality TV show, further inspired her passion for philanthropy and community development.
She noted that her time on the show gave her a deeper sense of purpose and strengthened her desire to empower young girls through education and skills training.
“My experience in the mansion deepened my understanding of how much impact one person can have on their community,” she said. “I’ve always believed in giving back, especially to the less privileged.”
With her unwavering dedication to personal growth, loyalty, and social impact, Sarah Sweet continues to redefine what it means to be a modern woman in Nollywood — confident, independent, and unapologetically true to herself.
